This two day tour of the scenic Leeuwin-Naturaliste region in WA’s south-western corner begins with a visit to the highly significant Late Pleistocene occupation sites at Devil’s Lair and Tunnel Cave. Archaeologists and Wardandi (Noongar) Traditional Owners will speak about the region’s Indigenous heritage and archaeological significance.
On day two the tour will move on to other cave sites, lunch at Cullen’s Winery, and finish with visits to important open sites located on the region’s stunning coastline. Your guide will be Joe Dortch, UWA, who has led several highly enjoyable tours in the region, and continues to conduct research in the area with the Wardandi people.
Cost: $270.00per person
Tour must be booked during the online conference registration, by 1st November 2015
Includes: Transport from Fremantle to all tour sites and return to Fremantle, shared accommodation, admission to all caves and sites, lunch at Cullen’s Winery and experienced tour guide, Joe Dortch.
All other meals are at own expense.
A minimum of 12 bookings is required for this tour to proceed. If minimum numbers are not reached, the tour will be cancelled and a full refund will be offered. Maximum of 24 bookings available.
Transport: via 12-seater bus, driven by Joe Dortch and volunteer if maximum numbers are reached.
Accommodation: at Margaret River Hotel with shared rooms of 2 or 3 people in each room.
