The Riverboat Postman-Hawkesbury River Tour

Date: Friday 9th December 2016
Time: 8.00am – 3.00pm
Cost: $85.00

A minimum number of 19 attendees is required for this tour to proceed.

Come cruising on the Hawkesbury Mail Boat, the famous Riverboat Postman, and enjoy the magnificent scenery of the lower Hawkesbury River delivering the mail and other essentials (the odd bottle of whiskey or rum…) to the river-access-only settlements upriver from Brooklyn.

Morning tea served on arrival, with percolated coffee, hot tea, and delicious home-made ANZAC biscuits.

Lunch is served around midday, and consists of a very Aussie Ploughman’s-style plate with shaved ham, tasty cheese, tomato, zucchini, carrot, mixed lettuce, pickled onions, fresh Turkish Bread roll, pickles, fruit chutney, butter & Italian dressing.

All our boats are fully licensed, so you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer, or a soft drink, with your lunch. Water is always available at the bar.

Guided Tour of Bulgandry Aboriginal site, Kariong

Date: Friday 9th December 2016
Time: 9.30am – 4.00pm
Cost: $85.00

A minimum number of 11 attendees is required for this tour to proceed.

Bulgandry Aboriginal art site in Brisbane Water National Park is a special landscape, rich in ancient Aboriginal rock art. There’s a wide range of well-preserved engravings to see; most of them are more than 200 years old with many perhaps ten times that age.

The name Bulgandry belongs to the large engraving of a man thought to represent an ancestral hero, depicted with an impressive headdress.

Somersby Falls picnic area is the perfect place to escape from everyday life. Enjoy your meal amidst lush rainforest that feels a million miles away but in reality is so close to home.

It’s a great place to picnic, with free barbecues and picnic tables and plenty of space to set up your own rug and chairs. Whether you picnic under the shade of tall trees at the far end of the carpark or next to Floods creek before it descends over the cascades, you’re bound to see a bird or two. Make sure you look out for the industrious brush turkeys that might be keen on sharing your lunch.

When you’ve enjoyed a tasty barbecue and feel like stretching your legs, try the Somersby Falls walking track. It’s a 500m return walk through rainforest that takes in views of the top and bottom waterfalls. The walk is steep and slippery in places, so keep an eye on the kids as they walk along the track.
